Hyatt DSU on P+C is capacity control !?

Hyatt DSU on P+C is capacity control !?

This pass week, I’ve had some not so great experience with Hyatt agents on the phone. I have a few reservations that are a few weeks apart at the same location. One of those reservations were a paid rate and the rest were points + cash.

I called multiple times to ask for a DSU for those reservations and each time they would put me on hold, then hang up on me. This happened 4 times when they would looking at the points + cash reservations. Then I called again and this time I mention the paid reservation first, and turns out everything was fine. The agent went ahead and did the upgrade. When I ask about the DSU for my other reservations, the same thing happened; the agent hung up on me.

At one point, the agent told me the upgrade was available, then proceeded to put me on hold and hung up on me. After calling back right away, the next agent then told me that the upgrade was not possible because no suite were available. What!?

So today I called and the Hyatt agent told me that there were suites available, but it’s not possible to use DSU because my rate is point + cash. The agent told me that if I change the reservation to a rate other than points + cash, I can be upgraded because the hotel won’t allow the points + cash rate.

So it looks like DSU is capacity control by the hotels according to rates? Has this happen to anyone else? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember seeing anything about DSU being capacity control in the Hyatt T&C.

Edit: I saw this threat Lucky post afterwards, stating the same thing. I really hope “World of Hyatt” make positive changes to this issue.
