How to get around AA transfer rates
My friend lost his wife to cancer recently and she left behind three kids under the age of 10. We live in Boston and his sister in Charlotte. When I called AA to try and give her a chunk of miles I was taken aback at the $30 per each 1K miles transfer fee. It makes it cheaper for me to book tickets each time for her and her family instead (~$11-30 service fees). I understand this is a unique circumstance however if anyone has ideas on getting around the obscene AA service charges let me know.
Thanks
There isnt a way around it, unfortunately. Just book the tickets for them or gift miles to them when there is a promotion on purchased miles.
And there shouldn’t be any service fees for booking an award for the sister. Just the normal taxes and fees charged on an award redemption.
