I collect Avios and Asia Miles, but wish to get an redemption ticket on Air Zealand. What is the best way to achieve that?

Hi,

Avios can’t be used on Air New Zealand – only on OneWorld partners and a couple others (but not NZ).

Asia Miles are the same, with the only exception being able to redeem for flights on Air New Zealand that are Hong Kong to Auckland (all others are not possible).

Are you trying to fly Air New Zealand or go to New Zealand?

I am trying to get an award ticket on AKL/PPT/AKL. Any suggestion or help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Only two airlines fly non-stop between Auckland and Papeete: Air NZ and Air Tahiti Nui. As noted above, neither Avios nor Asia Miles will help you on Air NZ. To use your Avios, you’d have to find a flight that’s codeshared with BA and I don’t think that particular leg is a codeshare.

I found 2 QF flights that are codeshared with Air Tahiti Nui. Would I be able to get an award ticket on those flights using my Asia Miles?

Per what [USER=1436]@rickyw[/USER] wrote above you can only use Asia Miles on Air NZ flights between HKG and AKL. I don’t think you’ll be able to use your Avios on the QF-code shared route but you can always just log into BA.com to see if they pop up there. If you don’t know for sure there are award seats on that flight you might look for revenue seats first to see if BA even offers that as an option.
