How do I redeem Elevate points on Virgin Australia?

I tried calling them so book an award flight on their partnership with Virgin Australia but the people I spoke to seem clueless as to how to book an award. Am I calling the wrong number? Is there someone else I’m supposed to call to book? I used the number on their website.

They list a number there to call (877.359.8474) Is that what you used?

Ideally I’d look up the flight numbers ahead of time so you can just feed the info to the agents.

If they still don’t have a clue I’d HUCA and see if you can get a better agent the next time.

Keep in mind award availability on Virgin Australia is pretty horrible other than 7 days before departure, which might be part of the problem. Definitely look up flights first if you can.
