Hawaii Redemption

Hawaii Redemption

    Hi Folks!

I and the mrs, want to travel to Hawaii –

LAX to OGG and then KOA to LAX. Our dates are in late december…and we have a ton of Membership Reward points…any ideas? Maybe we can use Virgin America somehow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! Here’s a post Tiffany did a couple of years ago: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/10/06/redeeming-miles-to-hawaii-can-be-tough/

And since that post was written in 2015, AA has changed how they code their first class cabin (for 2-cabin aircraft) so when using Avios you’d only pay twice the economy class fare (in Avios) for a business class seat vs. 3x as is stated in the post.

Keep in mind that award calendars have been open for 6 months now so your best option is likely going to be “the airline that has space”.

Another option to keep open is to remember that if there’s no award space, you can always book through the Membership Rewards portal and use your MRs to pay. It might not be as great a value as booking an award seat but if it means you can travel when you want it may be worth it.
