I’m trying to book my husband and I SQ JFK – FRA Suites, and have found very little saver availability- which has all been waitlisted. Have people been having luck booking saver, or is it the norm now to just nut it up and pay for the standard level (130k for the period I was looking)?

You could always put an award on waitlist and then use the miles to book the standard award as a backup. If saver space opens you can switch the booking. Some people have reported success with following up with SQ customer support for manual reminders to the revenue management team but YMMV.

Thank you for your input! Yes, I have one on waitlist now (lost one while miles were pending transfer) and was debating on booking standard or waiting a year to make this trip. Paying almost double the miles for standard (76k vs 130k) is a hard one to swallow for a 7h45m flight- especially when I know I can go SEA-DXB-MLE in Emirates FC for 150k

Never done it myself, but I think I read yesterday from one of Lucky’s posts that it is only a $30 fee to cancel and redeposit the miles with SQ. Assuming that’s true (someone correct me, if not), $30 seems a fair price to pay to have the back-up plan of a standard award…

rickyw – Thank you for reminding me of the $30 cancellation fee. As a Plan B, I agree this is probably the best way to go

That is correct. Just remember SQ miles do expire so plan to have some other uses for them.

I booked early November last year for a flight this coming late October JFK-FRA-SIN-BOM. Availability for this route seems to be consistent but quick to disappear if youre booking ~1 year in advance. For instance I see suites saver award available JFK-FRA-SIN Aug 20th and Aug 21st (the farthest out you can book) but nothing or waitlist only on days before then. There may be sporadic availability on days prior to that, but if so I wouldnt know how to find them.
