Does Air Canada Availability return to Inventory
I find myself having to cancel and rebook a United award on Air Canada to change the traveling person. Does anyone know if when I cancel if the inventory becomes available again. Currently the routing is not showing available. Just wondering if I cancel and immediately rebook if it will become available.
There is really no guarantee that it will return to inventory. It really depends on the airline releasing the award. Sometimes it returns to inventory right away, others will take a bit of time for it to return to inventory and maybe longer for a partner airline to see the space and other times it might go back into a different fare class so that the seat is for sale and not an award.
I think Air Canada can be stingy with awards sometimes. Also, unless you have status with UA, its going to cost $200 to cancel the original award. Is an award available if the routing is a bit different? I would book that first and pay the change fee to change award if it goes back into award inventory.
