Can anyone help me understand if it is possible to book a flight from LAX to SYD using miles in my Delta Skymiles account and then using my Global Upgrade to move from main to Business Class? I want to make sure I don’t book main cabin and then they tell me that my global upgrades or invalid. I’m reading some of the sites and it appears that I can only use Global upgrades for a ticket that I paid cash with a class code of Y. But it’s all confusing…please advise. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dr. K — You can only use GPUs on paid tickets.

There are no fare restrictions, other than you can’t upgrade E fares. Upgrade space does have to be available.
