I had read some articles the past year mentioning that Cathay was going to start eliminating award space for partners. Does anyone know if this has now officially taken place? In the past typically you could find First and Business class seats in the week leading up to the flight. Now checking JFK->HKG I dont see any First seats available for any days in the next week or any days as far as 330 days out. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this and if Cathay has unfortunately done away with First class seats using partner miles.

Ben has written about this a couple of times:

As far as I know there haven’t been any more announced changes. Have you tried checking other dates? Also have you taken a look at the loads for the date you trying to book (easy to do via kayak)? They may just have a lot of paid seats on that flight.
