Creative ways to Australia
Looking to arrive November 14th in Perth. Anyone have suggestions to break up the trip over using air miles? I’m flying from the east coast and wondered if a stop over in Fiji, Tahiti or some other exotic island could be an option? I figured a flight/stay into Hawaii was doable but are there any neat connections from that point forward? Btw, I have plenty of AA miles and Chase points to burn but always prefer to get the most bang for my bucks when possible. Thanks for any suggestions.
The issue with using AA miles is that they don’t allow stopovers. That being said, since Fiji Air is not bookable on aa.com it often has seats available when the non-stops to AUS do not. I just flew them in October and while it was certainly better than economy, Fiji Air does have angle-flat seats. I loved Fiji itself and the exchange rate is very favorable to the USD right now.
Using URs on Star Alliance you can route via Asia and include a stopover, so that could be fun too.
