Convincing Delta phone agents to book award by individual segments.
I seem to constantly have trouble with the Delta agents I speak with when trying to make award bookings. I can find the individual partner segments on Delta.com but can’t make them price online. When I call to try and book by feeding the segments to the agents, most of the time they can’t find the flights I am talking about.
Recently I learned that they have two ways to search for awards. The “regular way” is essentially Delta.com. They just type in the trip origin and destination and they get essentially the same results Delta.com spits out. The last agent I spoke with called the support desk and figured out how to use another system to input the flights I wanted individually and pull them up.
My question is, what is the best and easiest way to get an agent to access this second system without having to make them call the support line every time I call to make a reservation? Can I politely suggest the name of a specific system or interface for them to use, or do I just have to continue to HUCA until I find a knowledgable agent?
I think for leg by leg bookings they have to go through the manual rate desk. I’ve only had luck using HUCA. @Tiffany?

I just booked an award with Delta from Phoenix which made it more difficult. I tried myself and could not get what i wanted so went back to pointpros booking service and used Jordan who booked a trip 2 years ago. It was worth the 300 for the routing was way better than when i looked online. they know who to talk to and how to do each segment. we got the award at lowest cost for business class.
It’s all HUCA!
That being said, if the awards are all on Delta metal, the price is just the price.
I was afraid that was the answer @Tiffany. I was really hoping there was a secret codeword I could give to the agents to make them understand. Thanks for the insight and thanks for writing this post about Delta. It was super super helpful.
