I am wanting to do some calculations regarding gas purchases, whether I am better to get 3x points on CSR, or continue to buy BP GC’s and get CB/eBay bucks for the card purchases. Currently I am paying around $82 for $100 worth of gas buy combining savings strategies. Would I be better off to get the 3x points on CSR?

Well Lucky currently values Ultimate Rewards points at 1.7 cents each. $100 in gas would net 300 UR points. 300 x $0.017 = $5.10. So I’d say you’re better off with your current strategy since you’re saving $18 per $100.

Does the CSR categorize fuel as travel? I don’t think the CSP did, only the Citi Premier that I’m aware of. AFAIK you’d only get 1point/$ for gas. Definitely the ebay route.

Wait what? CSR does not give 3X on gas. It does on Dining and Travel only.
