Hi All,

Soon to book Cathay Pacific Business Class from BOS-HKG (pre-devaluation). I have enough miles for 2 tickets, my question is, if First Class becomes available would you suggest purchasing more miles (roughly $500) to upgrade? I know Lucky has said he would do it if he had the miles, but is it worth $250 each to go from business class to First Class.

If it was about me, I wouldn’t hesitate. Don’t forget that nobody knows how upgrades will work after devaluation.

I would personally pay $250 at the gate to go from business to first on Cathay, so that sounds fair to me. But I love Cathay first.

So I would think about what it is worth [I]to you[/I]. If you’re getting ready to board, and the gate agent says “It’s $____ to upgrade to F”, what is your threshold? For some people it might only be $50, or not at all, etc.
