Cathay no longer releasing far-future F space?
I was searching for some Cathay award space for May ’16 JFK-HKG, but it looks like J inventory is few and far between, and F space is non-existent. ExpertFlyer is showing a ton of flights with F6 though! I know Cathay, pre-new system, consistently released 1 seat for award travel 300+ days out, but is that not true anymore? Have they recently gotten more stingy overall?
@Ray Y, 300 days would have been August so unless you’ve been checking since then (or even if you were trying your best) it’s possible someone snagged it before you. The most recent post Ben did about this is here: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/10/25/cathay-pacific-first-class-awards/
@Gaurav, my point was that it’s not that someone snagged the F seat before me, it’s that Cathay is not releasing ANY F space unless it’s close in (< 2 weeks). I see a ton of flights with 6 F seats available on ExpertFlyer (pick any month that's not December), and BA is not showing any bookable F seats on those flights.
They do seem to have become tighter. I’ve been monitoring a flight for the past few months without any luck so far!
Yup, I suspect you won’t have any luck until 14 days out! Let me know if it is sooner though. 🙂
