Anonymous GuestI’m flying Sep from ATL-HKG and would like to fly bus class using my SkyMiles. Delta charges 250k+ miles; Korean only 125k roundtrip. I was told by Korean that they can’t use my Delta SkyMiles…
I’m confused and wonder if a) there is a work-around or b) if you can recommend an alternative that would work.

Stefan, you can only use miles from a program to make reservations through that program. So Delta miles have to be used by calling DL, Korean miles can be redeemed by calling KE. Since KE and DL are (nominally) partners (more like frenemies) they do have access to a subset of the seats that each releases to its own members. So you may see Korean seats available for Korean members but unless you see them on the Delta site you cannot book them with Delta miles. You will also need to pay the price Delta charges since you’re using Delta miles. Hope that makes sense.
