Best Use of Alaska Miles?

Best Use of Alaska Miles?

  1. Anonymous Guest

I purchased Alaska miles with their 40% bonus offer because they still have some good partner redemption rates. I’m looking at QF 70K F or 55K J seats, or AF/KLM J for 62.5K, so it comes down those as I’ve never flown them. Your thoughts, experiences with QF/AF/KLM appreciated. How can one search for AF/KLM (SkyTeam) award availability? Thank you.

FYI: Korean Air and Delta redemption requires round trip, but I’m going one way using Alaska Miles and the return on Mileage Plus. LAN is only 45K but I’m not to keen given the so so reviews even in their new 787; Hainan, not interested in China; I’ve already flown AA, CX J and F, and Emirates redemption is too high for me.

Ben wrote this a couple of years ago so I don’t think anything has changed other than the EK awards.

I believe you can use the AS website for searching all awards other than LAN and CX although a random search did not show any AF availability. I might check DL to see if there AF space for your dates, AS should be able to book the same space.

You’ll pay the R/T price if you book DL even if you only fly one way. Might not be avoidable if you are in a pinch but not the best use of miles.
