We are trying to use AA miles to BCN (NOV 2) but can not get business or First class. We can go to other European cities in business/first class and then get a mileage or purchase a ticket (economy of business). This plan could cause major $$$ problems with luggage allowance. Can they tie the records with the mileage award so that the bags go straight thru or at least not limit us somehow to intra European lesser baggage allowances? Thank you.

I don’t think they can do that. But let’s see if we can’t get you to BCN on your date if you don’t mind a little creative routing. Where will you be departing the US from?

@JMP it depends on who the other carrier is – not all carriers have interline baggage agreements with AA and some AAgents will be unwilling (or wont know how) to thru check bags even if the next carrier has an agreement with AA

We have to pick up a cruise on 4 NOV out of BCN. We can not leave DFW until early the 2nd and we have to arrive the 3rd (currently hold coach DFW-MAD-BCN) or very early in the morning the 4th (to be safe since the ship leaves at 1800hrs). We would also like to come back out of FCO early Sunday the 12th (ship arrives at 0600 into CIT) business or coach if the connections are not too many. We currently have business on the 13th MXP-MIA-DFW (arriving at 2021 hrs). We have to get back NLT late the 13th. Thank you for all your help.

If we could find seats to Dublin there are 7 business class seats DUB-BCN on 11/3 but I can’t seem to find space to get you there, though I did not check through LHR because flying BA might cost more in fuel surcharges than the extra luggage fee.

There were also seats from London Gatwick to BCN that would work but again the issue is getting across the pond.

I did not check cities in Mexico/South America where Iberia flies that AA might also fly to from DFW but maybe give that a shot.

Maybe a Scott-E vest product is cheaper and could act as an additional carry-on? 😉
