airberlin award availability

    Hey Ben!

I’ve been putzing around the past few days trying to figure out where to go and what to do with my remaining 250K AAdvantage miles. I saw your blog about airberlin and the new routes for 2016. I happen to live in SFO (well…the city, not the airport!) and so I found business class availability pretty easy for a Friday in July. I put it on hold but then I needed to adjust the date later deciding that the original date worked better. However, I’d already let that date go. I immediately tried to re-book it and it’s not pulling up!! In fact, I’m not seeing AB availability at all now…for any date. Is it possible that AB just hasn’t actually released the two seats I had on hold for my original date? Is AB experiencing an issue, that you know of, with their availability right now? I find it really odd that I can search for months and months and not see any AB…not even factoring in connections. AA always shows flight options with unavailable ones greyed out. There isn’t even AB showing in there!

    Help!

    Thanks,
    Kurt

Kurt–you could try checking the BA tool to confirm that there is space available. If it shows up, try calling the AA call center for help booking. AA access to space seems to have been glitchy for the past couple of days.

Thanks, Gaurav! I will definitely give that a try…I’m surprised that I didn’t think of that myself.

BA schedule for weeks at a time isn’t showing any AB availability either…even for purchase. I wasn’t seeing awards so I just tried to book a revenue trip and nada. Something is up with AB availability it seems. 🙁
