Advice on how to credit Alaska flight for my kids

Advice on how to credit Alaska flight for my kids

  1. Anonymous Guest

I have a roundtrip flight coming up between the west coast and hawaii with kids. I see two options:

    (1) Credit flight to British Airways Avios = ~1200 avios for G class fare
Very low earning. On the plus side this option allows me to pool the kids miles into a household account.

    (2) Credit flight to Alaska Mileage Plan = ~5600 miles for G class fare
Higher earning. But the downside is these miles are basically orphaned. I’ll need to keep them from expiring and hope the account builds up over a long time.

Which route would you take, and why?

I would probably do the latter, honestly. Alaska awards have decent rates for domestic routes, and you could always buy miles for their accounts if you needed to.

And using the Mileage plan shopping mall is an easy way to keep them from expiring.
