AA upgrade to award

AA upgrade to award

  1. Anonymous Guest

Any change since your last article on upgrading an AA award?
I booked a 20,000 AAnytime award for each of us (2 people) for October 23, 2016 ORD to LHR Flight 86.
It is wide open in First and Business but AA has AAnytime 57,500 awards only on British Airways flights, not on the the AA flight 86
Do they open up those AA flights for AAnytime awards as they get closer to the flight date?
I have been in Club World before and prefer the AA business class on the 777-300er, plus the BA tickets require $446.00 each in addition to the 57,500 miles for the AAnytime Business class award.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

RJM777 airline revenue management is fairly opaque and there is no guarantee that a specific flight will open at a particular level. All you can do is track and hope.
