AA new program upgrade update
Hello. My question is regarding how upgrades are executed within those last minutes before the flight departs. Who has the best advantage to gain those seats (aside from someone who purchases the seat)? The website states:
Upgrade prioritization
Upgrade requests will be prioritized by elite status level, then:

Type of upgrade

12-month Rolling EQD
Type of upgrade
Before you get to the airport, requests for systemwide and mileage award upgrades are processed independently from 500-mile upgrade requests.
At the airport, upgrades requested will be prioritized in this order:

Systemwide and mileage award upgrades

500-mile upgrades on purchased tickets

500-mile upgrades on award tickets
The SWU / Mileage Award Upgrade I understand. The 500-mile upgrade on purchased tickets…… that is the same as the unlimited upgrades (when available) for EXPs?
Silly question. The answer is “yes”. I just booked with request to use some of those SWUs that I hoard. I’ll see how it goes.
