AA Holds Question

AA Holds Question

  1. Anonymous Guest

I’ve held two one ways using aa.com (XXX-YYY and YYY-XXX) as two separate tickets with two separate record locators. Two questions:

    1. If I create a new itinerary with XXX-YYY-XXX as a roundtrip with 1 record locator, hold it, and immediately cancel the 2 oneways, will American or its computer system get angry at me for booking duplicates and void all three of the tickets? (United agents have suggested that their automated system cancels duplicates, so I’m hesitant…)

    2. Can I call American to merge the two held oneways into a roundtrip before ticketing? If so, will they charge me the telephone booking fee?

    Thanks,
    Bill

AA wont merge the itineraries of the separate one ways but if there is still addition award space on either leg, a call to AA means they can modify the existing itinerary and add the other leg. You dont necessarily have to merge tickets or ticket as a round trip though. One way tickets are fine
