AA devaluation award changes – just to be sure!

Hi All, I just wanted to re-confirm with you knowledgeable ones if my understanding is correct.

I booked an award flight from JFK to SIN via NRT on JL. The JFK-NRT flight is in First class, whilst the NRT-SIN is in Y (no C availability at this time, and no F on this route with JL). The award cost 67,500 AA miles. Here’s what I need validated…My understanding is that since my flight was priced as a First award, when availability opens up in business for the NRT-SIN flight, I should have no problem changing the cabin (since it would have cost 67,500 as well had I initially booked the second flight in Biz, had there been space).

Is this everyone’s understanding as well? Thanks in advance!
