AA award routing with Etihad and BA

AA award routing with Etihad and BA

  1. Ryan New Member

Currently have booked MAD-LHR-AUH in Business/First (BA first leg, Etihad second leg). I wanted to add a segment on the end of my flight and go from AUH-DEL on Etihad. AA says it is another award. It falls within MPM, so trying to figure out what i’m missing. Fare posted with that routing? If so, what airline has to post the fare? Since India and AUH are in the same region, I’m confused. Thanks for the help.

Ryan, that award should absolutely be allowed. It sounds to me like you got a bad agent, so I’d recommend hanging up and calling again.

Any advice on termonology to use? They put me on hold and contacted the rate desk who agreed with them. I said I didn’t agree and they said they can’t change it and have notated the account as such. Other than telling them they are wrong and I’m right, I’m not sure how to convince then by quoting the rules. Thanks again for the help.

@Ryan — It’s more complicated if they’ve notated the record, but I generally like to take the approach of asking them to explain why it’s not allowed. Sorta a “hmmm, that’s different than what I’ve been told in the past, so can you walk me through why this prices this way so I know for future?”

    Good luck, that really stinks.
