500 mile upgrade on Iberia?

500 mile upgrade on Iberia?

Can I use an AA 500 mile upgrade on an Iberia paid ticket?

    Thank you!

The upgrades can only be used on “American Airlines marketed and operated flights” so it would not seem so.

Can I pay 10,000 AAdvantage points to upgrade on Iberia? Am I reading this chart correctly?

Did you book your ticket through American to fly on an IB plane? If so, then maybe. But your ticket number has to start with 001. If you bought directly with IB then no.

Yes, if you booked a Full Fare economy ticket (usually flex fare or a ticket with no penalties for cancellation or changes). The chart specifically says the fare class booked has to be Y or B, if traveling on BA or Iberia.

A flight on IB from MAD-Tenerife this coming April can be as low as $80. A full fare economy ticket on the same flight is $650. A paid ticket in business class on the flight is $575. For a flight that’s less than 3 hours in the air, it’s really not worth it, especially in intra-Europe business class.
