We’ve just seen World of Hyatt make massive changes to its award pricing. While the program is maintaining a published award chart, it’s increasing the range of pricing, meaning that peak season award stays will cost more than ever before.
When these negative changes were announced, Hyatt also teased a couple of positive updates, to be implemented later this year. There’s now an update, as we know the timeline with which the first of these changes will be introduced.
In this post:
Hyatt free night awards will be available up to 13 months out
For bookings as of June 30, 2026, World of Hyatt will introduce early access to award night availability for select members. Specifically, this will be available to those with a co-branded Hyatt credit card, plus World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members (meanwhile Discoverist members won’t get access to this).
The expectation is that these members will be able to book awards one month earlier. So instead of the current window of 12 months, the new window will be around 13 months. Having access to awards earlier is good news, and I suppose it’s a nice incentive to have status or a credit card.
For those curious, here’s how the World of Hyatt terms & conditions have been updated to reflect this:
For Free Night Award or Points + Cash Award reservations made on or after June 30, 2026, Explorists, Globalists, Lifetime Globalists, and primary cardholders of a Hyatt-branded Credit Card (regardless of tier status) will have advance access to booking as compared to other Members.
Eligibility for this benefit is based on tier status at the time of award booking and booking windows are based on the time zone of the applicable hotel or resort.

How valuable is earlier access to World of Hyatt awards?
How substantial is this new World of Hyatt benefit, of select members getting access to awards more than 12 months in advance?
For the most part, you shouldn’t have issues finding award availability when the schedule opens. However, for absolute peak season stays, like the Park Hyatt Sydney on New Year’s Eve, or the Park Hyatt Kyoto during peak Cherry Blossom season, this could definitely be the difference between getting access to these awards and not. That being said:
- Odds are that most people with enough Hyatt points to book a special award also have status or a credit with the hotel program, just based on how people usually go about developing a points strategy (admittedly that’s not always true, given Bilt and Chase transfers)
- Of course those super in demand stays will now also cost up to 75,000 points per night, up to 67% more than the previous highest cost of 45,000 points per night.
- Now we can also enjoy staying at properties like the Park Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Sydney and being told they’re “resorts,” and therefore don’t qualify for perks like Globalist late check-out

Bottom line
World of Hyatt recently made major award chart changes, which were overwhelmingly negative. The minor good news is that for bookings as of June 30, 2026, select elite and credit card members will get access to award space earlier, up to 13 months in advance.
I don’t consider this to be some sort of a game changer, though it is moderately positive for those with access to the availability, who like to plan in advance.
Separately, as of some point later this year, we should also see World of Hyatt introduce simplified points sharing between members, though we’re still waiting on a date.
What do you make of World of Hyatt extending the award booking window?
You could already book 13 months in advance. Sometimes a little over 13 months. So this sounds like made up benefit and a restriction on those not globalist or card holders. I've been cooking 13 months in advance for years, sometimes slightly more. The website was less adept than the app at doing it. The app always let you and to this day still lets you even though this "benefit" has been released.
Zero people were asking for this
I've been booking trips during the kids school breaks 13 months in advance for years. Not sure why you're pretending this is a "new" feature
Award availability is not always available far in advance - sometimes the hotel waits until nearby venues determine dates for certain events before releasing.
I think odds are that if it's a hotel where you think you NEED to book that far in advance to guarantee a free room, the hotel is going to drag their feet on making all their award bookings available, and the early access won't really be of any significant benefit.
Uh...
I pulled the trigger on a week-long stay at the HH Anaheim for the end of August 2026 (this year) on August 4, 2025. This isn't an improvement.
If anything, this is a devaluation of that for non-elites/non-CC holders and someone at HQ decided to outright lie.
So your 1 booking a year out at a Hyatt House is proof that super hard to book places like PH Kyoto and Alila Ventana will not be any easier as they are already easy to book a year out?
Lol, get outta here!
How about something tangible for globalists, such as a welcome amenity or free soft drinks when there is no club lounge?
Well, since they’re becoming Bonvoy, they should probably offer you two bottles of water upon checking in.
More of a technical question but I'm curious how they will be able to tell you have a Hyatt credit card when searching for an award. Will you have to add it to the card in your profile for it to trigger the search?
The credit card is already tied to your WoH account, so the system knows you have it as long as you're logged in.
Actually up to 85k at AIs like Impression Moxche and Impression Isla. Both are highly competitive. Remember when Impression Moxche was “mispriced” at 25k?
The ensh*tification continues. But Ben will still sing the praises of Hyatt. And its underdeserving Park Hyatt brand.
I think his comment about PH Sydney and Tokyo were ironic.
That said, I increasingly wouldn't mind seeing PH killed off as a brand.
Same, Gray. It's starting to give Ritz-Carlton-loyalty-is-irrelevant energy.
75k for rooms that used to cost 45k, and since it's peak season the "resort" PHs in the middle of a capital city won't have late checkout available either for your stay. Letting co-brand card holders have access to this "perk" also hugely devalues it.
These programs can no longer alter my stay pattern. If I happen to stay I'll get some points, but seeing as how uncompetitive these chain hotels are on the high...

These programs can no longer alter my stay pattern. If I happen to stay I'll get some points, but seeing as how uncompetitive these chain hotels are on the high end, it's going to be a lot more FS and independent luxury hotels going forward.
How come none of the bloggers are stating the obvious: that it has ALWAYS been possible to book 13 months out and Hyatt are lying that this is a new improvement
to be fair i bet its been a decade or more since ben has booked over 12 months in advance LOL
cant blame him for not knowing
I think really what's changing is non elites WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BOOK 12+ months out. But that sounds negative so they spin it differently (foolishly)
Things are so bad, they had to throw a bone. Not bad. But wish they would provide elite level availability only throughout their calendar.
Should have done this for globalists specifically. Would be a genuine perk
The policy change tells me that they're wringing more profit from their co-branded credit card holders than they are from their Globalist members, and that those members should expect further erosion to the benefits of their status while credit card customers are treated increasingly more favourably.
Agree with Joe!! Absurd a credit card gives you the same perk as a globalist
@LP - agreed. Booked a trip just prior to the deval last week for the end of May 2027. So definitely already available
"Specifically, this will be available to those with a co-branded Hyatt credit card..."
That's so funny for me, timing-wise, because I called Chase this a.m. (literally six hours ago) and cancelled my Hyatt credit card. I won't be reupping for it just for this new "enhancement." And if I do, more bonus points for me, I guess.
Curious as to the reason. As the Hyatt card always strikes as one of those cards to, like the old IHG Select, to at least put in a drawer and just enjoy the free night cert every year
Hi, good question.
The reason is that I just won't be using Hyatt enough anymore, plus the hotel cert. is only for lower category hotels. I've given them away for the last three years, but if I don't need to pay an annual fee for a cert. that I'm not going to use, and Hyatt is turning into the Southwest Airlines of hotels, then I have tons of other options, whether independent hotels or...
Hi, good question.
The reason is that I just won't be using Hyatt enough anymore, plus the hotel cert. is only for lower category hotels. I've given them away for the last three years, but if I don't need to pay an annual fee for a cert. that I'm not going to use, and Hyatt is turning into the Southwest Airlines of hotels, then I have tons of other options, whether independent hotels or luxury chains (Pen, M-O, FS, Capella, etc.).
I'll still use Park Hyatt sometimes if they're the only luxury brand in a city I'm visiting (indeed I have PH stays booked out for the rest of the year already), but I don't need the Hyatt card for that when I can book through, say, Citi, and get 10x points that are transferrable.
Tell me I'm not crazy - I can currently (and have been for the last several years) been able to book awards up to 13 months in advance. So is the change that only elite members and credit card holders will be able to use the current window and everyone else's availability is getting cut to 12 months?
Same. No status and booked 13 months in advance last year
Yeah, ive booked award stays 13 months out several times in the past.
Why restrict this to only Explorist and Globalist? Anyone with Discoverist is at least to some degree trying to be loyal to Hyatt and its not like there’s a huge “cheat” to get Discoverist that isn’t already included in this benefit (cobrand cardholders). It just seems like non-business traveler loyalty is completely disregarded.
Give me longer to use an earned award instead. Hate that Cat 1-7 awards expire after 6 months. While we are at it, make the Globalist award 1-8.
Nope, sorry Lori. You have to be the hardest of the hard core to make it to 150 nights... for a free single night stay at a cat8 property. ;_;
Also the issue to me is that availability at the hard to find resorts doesn't always open at the start of the schedule. And that's assuming that the rate isn't extortionate.
So, you can now pay through the nose before everyone else! How generous.
