Trump Unveils Limited Edition “Patriotic Passport,” With His Face, Gold Signature

Trump Unveils Limited Edition “Patriotic Passport,” With His Face, Gold Signature

113

I guess we should’ve seen this coming…

United States passport gets new Trump-centric design

The State Department is rolling out a new limited edition United States passport, intended to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The passport features President Trump’s image on the inside cover, surrounded by text of the Declaration of Independence, an American flag, and Trump’s (gold) signature. Then another page features the Founding Fathers at the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The passport’s exterior is also altered, with “United States of America” written in larger text and placed at the very top of the passport, and the back cover having an American flag, with “250” centered between the 13 stars featured on the 1777 version of the flag.

Good thing passports have biometric data nowadays, or else you might assume this passport is fake.

This special passport design is only available for those who show up in person at the Washington Passport Agency until the limited edition runs out. If you do renew in person at the Washington Passport Agency, you won’t have a choice of which passport you get, as this will be the standard, even if you don’t want it.

So in those situations, your only option to avoid this passport is to renew online, or go to a passport agency outside of DC.

This is a pretty unprecedented passport concept

This is the first time that we’ve ever seen a United States president featured on a passport. When criticized online, the official White House X account responded by pointing out that… President Obama had a commemorative metro card for his inauguration in January 2009.

Even in countries with dictators or monarchies, we don’t typically see this. Though the White House X account did also post about “two kings,” in reference to Trump’s meeting with King Charles.

I’m not even going to be sassy about this, because we’re getting to the point where fact is stranger than fiction.

I’ll simply say this, and I think it’s something most reasonable people should be able to agree on — the concept of being “patriotic” in the United States shouldn’t be tied to any one character, regardless of political affiliation, especially not one person temporarily elected.

If someone truly believes that the thing most worth highlight about the United States’ 250th anniversary is the current president, then it’s a rather unusual flavor of patriotism.

Bottom line

President Trump is launching a limited edition passport to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, and in particular, to celebrate himself. The passport features his picture and signature, which is something we’ve never seen before in the United States.

This will be the only option at the Washington Passport Agency until supplies run out. If you do apply there, you won’t have an option as to which passport you get. Meanwhile everywhere else, the standard passport will continue to be issued.

Somebody wrote that dual citizenship is a problem because you can be "loyal" to only one country.

I do not understand what "being loyal to one country means". I do not see any occasion where loyalty to a country would be required.

I like the country where I was born (Italy), I am happy when Sinner or Musetti win tennis tournaments, but if I disagree with the actions of my government I say it openly...

I consider the expression "My country, right or wrong" very problematic and dangerous.

Another example of a topic that is more political than travel/points related. The problem for most people is who it is. There are several presidents that if they were on there most people would not think twice.

Trump will probably be resting comfortably in a crypt at his presidential library by then, after a lifetime of bad habits finally catches-up with him.

  6. Hank Tarn Guest

I would probably get it if I needed a passport. Don’t need one as so much to do and see in America while supporting jobs and businesses domestically rather than in foreign countries who hate us.

@MAGA Mike: you are stuttering. Typical Trumper, can’t figure out how to post comments so they keep hitting “Post”

The 30% that still support him and would want this think travel to other countries isn’t of interest. They are driving Ford pick- ups with giant flags waving from the back. This is a treasure to them, not a tool of international travel. Same ones that own his bible and believe all his lies. America survived his first term, not sure how long it will take to bounce back this time or if possible.

I am SO getting one of these passports. They are amazing and a symbol of ALL greatness and the greatest.
I’ll be in Northern VA for business and will spend an extra day to go to DC in person to sign up for this new beautiful moments.
Love it !!! Thanks for the info on how to get this. Much appreciated.

It would be a next-level troll job if these were only available in sanctuary cities.

    1. All Due Respect Guest

Sure. Because that's what a mature adult with the most powerful job on earth should be doing. Trolling.

A confident, secure person wouldn't spend so much time obsessing over ways to "troll" people whom they disagree with.

    2. omarsidd Diamond

Ahh you've never had a passport, have you. Question is are you being a cultist or are you a bot/troll farm member?

I'm certain this will be received with nothing but warmth and enthusiasm by every non-US immigration officer who lays eyes on it. Smooth sailing guaranteed.

  17. David Guest

While I strongly disagree with this passport concept, I find it hilarious when Trump trolls you libs. What are you going to do when he leaves office, and you won't have Trump to kick around anymore.

    1. snic Diamond

Question is, what are YOU gonna do while he's still in office, busily destroying civil rights, getting us into needless wars, destroying the world economy, increasing inflation, enriching himself and his family by billions of dollars, and getting away with all of it? Just sit there and let him do it because you love to see him "trolling the libs"?

    3. Ross Guest

I expect he'll leave office early next year, when he realizes there are better things to do in life when you're 80 and can't get any legislation through a Democratic-controlled Congress. Which is conducting unpleasant hearings. So then we'll have Vance to deal with, and his experience as a cafeteria Catholic will help him serve as a cafeteria Conservative.

  18. Andrew Guest

Custom Offices around the world outside of USA already response to this Trump passport:

Lol what? This passport office is for emergency last minute passports only, for travel within 14 days. You can still apply just like normal at the dozens of post offices in DC to “avoid” this passport, or whatever.

  32. AlohaDaveKennedy Guest

Looks like OMAAT has turned into a corral for all the Jacks and Jennys out there. If you don't want that new passport you can easily get another version. No need for all your political braying.

    1. Dan Guest

This is the nonsense our Dear Leader spends his time on instead of anything in the public interest. I mean thankfully inflation isn’t still out of control and we’re not bogged down in a needless war overseas…oh wait…

    2. James Guest

Nah mate, you’ve gotta call garbage out when you see it. Putting the face of the sitting President on a passport is hot garbage. A 250th anniversary edition passport is fine, I guess, not super necessary. But one with Trump’s face, that’s some real narcissism, and we shouldn’t put up with that kind of behavior.

  36. Ross Guest

The latest polls show that about a third of Americans approve of this President. I think it's only fair that they be offered this memento of their monarch, as long as it can be avoided by not waiting in line at one office for something that can easily be obtained elsewhere or online. It's likely to be saved as a family keepsake, for the owner's grandchildren serving as a reminder their ancestor was one of those demented fools they learn about in history class.

    1. Ryan Guest

You think any of those 33% actually have passports?!

    2. Ross Guest

Remember, the age of consent is lower in many places if you're able to travel. His friend Epstein had a place in France (15 is legal).

Seppos is rhyming slang. Septic tanks rhymes with yanks. Overtime, Americans were (without intending to say anything bad) called seppos. The OP can speak for themself, but I read this that their seeing an American with this passport would suggest the holder is a Trump supporter and should be avoided.

There's a difference between an outside agency making a topical choice for the fare card and the president imposing his will on good ol' Marco Rubio (who now has a dozen different jobs in the administration by now).

If you can't see the difference then you should visit a neurologist and have your basic functions checked out.

It was fascinating when I learned that roughly 20-30% of the population is hard-wired to support an authoritarian form of government. Had Mel lived in 1930s Germany, she would have supported Hitler. While he was busy disappearing people, she would have been busy accusing others of HDS. Ultimately, I pity people like her (I couldn't imagine having my head so far up my ass), but this is just how it goes. Same script, different cast.
