Wild: Passengers Trade Blows On Airport Tarmac, As Pilot Films In Disbelief

Unfortunately it’s not unusual to see airline passengers get into altercations with one another, and sometimes it even gets physical. However, I’ve never seen anything quite like this before, as reported by AEROIN (thanks to Carlos for flagging this)…

GOL passengers fight while deplaning in Brazil

Video footage has just been released of an incident that happened on December 23, 2025, at Navegantes Airport in Santa Catarina, Brazil (NVT). Passengers were arriving on GOL flight G31284 from Sao Paulo Congonhas (CGH). After the short 256-mile domestic flight, passengers deplaned via air stars, at both the front and back of the aircraft.

Two passengers deplaning via the rear stairs reportedly had an argument while disembarking, and the disagreement was so heated that they got into a physical fight, where they were quite literally punching one another on the tarmac, in an area well beyond where passengers are supposed to walk.

The ground staff can be seen trying to separate the two passengers, while one of the pilots of another aircraft is the one filming the incident, while that plane is being pushed back. In a statement, the airport confirmed that “the situation was quickly controlled, there was no impact on airport operations, and disembarkation occurred normally.”

It amazes me how low people will go on planes…

I think many people think of airplanes as “safe spaces,” in terms of being past a security checkpoint, and there being rules that need to be followed. Despite that, it’s so common to find some of the worst behavior imaginable at airports and on airplanes, as people just don’t hold back, no matter how poorly it’s going to end for them.

It’s one of the reasons I try to avoid engaging with passengers in any sort of a negative way. I think it’s important to always deescalate, and if you have an issue with another passenger, make the crew aware of it, rather than trying to take matters into your own hands.

I guess it’s not too surprising, but people just don’t consider the consequences of their actions…

Bottom line

Two passengers got into a massive physical fight on the tarmac while deplaning from a domestic GOL flight in Brazil. It’s one thing to get physical at all, but the fact that they ended up on what’s ostensibly an aircraft taxiway on top of one another is quite something…

What do you make of this airport confrontation?

I had an altercation on a flight to Cabo many years ago in my late teens, when smoking was still allowed on planes. A woman lit up in the seat in front of me and I told her that she/we were in the non-smoking section. She said she didn’t care and kept smoking. I wouldn’t let it go and the FA got involved and eventually moved my friend and I up to first class. The...

I wouldn’t let it go and the FA got involved and eventually moved my friend and I up to first class. The woman’s adult son was so incensed that someone called out his mother’s bad behavior that he continued to yell at me, threatened me when we got off the flight, and somehow seemed to show up at the various places we went in Cabo over the next few days and continued making threatening comments towards me. It was really a terrible experience.

I haven’t escalated anything on a flight since then, as I’m not willing to affect my own safety on a plane or after it lands.

      "It happened in Brazil though..."

LOL! I had to laugh. I expected racist comments, but Dave Stafford winds the prize for both the racism AND the stupidity. Did he read the summary on the video, and mistake Portuguese for Spanish? Did he then conclude it happened in Mexico and not, say, Spain? Why didn't he bother to read the piece before he slagged on the wrong country and citizens? Or are all brown people Mexican...
