Not Satire: Influencer Says Airline Rules Don’t Apply To Him, He’ll Do As He Wants

Not Satire: Influencer Says Airline Rules Don’t Apply To Him, He’ll Do As He Wants

This might just be the most entitled influencer I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something…

Influencer doubles down on violating airline rules

Yesterday, I wrote about how an airline and travel content creator made a post about how Qatar Airways needs to do a better job providing good service to influencers, because on three of four flights, he was asked not to record the crew, while he and his wife (who is “the kindest person you’ll meet”) boarded with cameras, videoing the cabin and crew as they boarded.

Virtually every airline has a policy against recording crew members without their permission, but he insists that they should first let him record his content, and then he can blur their faces after the fact, so they don’t ruin his content. Oh, but then he proceeded to post the video of the crew without blurring their faces.

Generally when people are called out for their entitled behavior, they respond in one of three ways — they go quiet, they apologize, or they double down. Well, want to guess which approach this guy took? Oh, did he ever double down in response to comments.

Frankly, most of his responses to others are just so absurd. For example, when someone proposed he simply film after passing the crew members upon boarding, he claimed “it wrecks the whole video, I have a format on how I record videos because I know they perform when recorded that way.”

But nothing compares to his response to someone who pointed out that if his “experience” falls apart because the crew enforces basic boundaries, that’s on him, and not the airline:

well my bubble ain’t broken, but guess what, in my world, neither you nor some employee is gonna tell me what I can record or NOT record on my experiences, and just like you if they do, I have no issues in telling them where to go.

Difference is, yes I am paying for the experience, if you ain’t adding to it, stay the F*** away cause I don’t want your energy around me.

So this guy is literally saying he doesn’t care what airline employees say, because no one is going to tell him what he can and can’t record.

Also, I of course have no bias against those redeeming points, because that’s how I book most of my flights. And I think those redeeming points deserve respect, like any other passenger. But when he keeps justifying his poor behavior by pointing out how he’s “paying for the experience” while redeeming points, well that reeks of absurd entitlement. Dude, I’m sure Qatar Airways can live without your points redemption “business.”

Rules apparently don’t apply to influencers

“But you shouldn’t give this guy any attention!”

Understandably, some people might ask why I’m even giving this guy any attention. After all, we live in a world where many people operate under the system of “any publicity is good publicity.” You’re right, certain people probably shouldn’t get the negative attention, because they thrive on that.

But I don’t think this is the case here at all. Quite to the contrary, I really do think this is getting under his skin, given the extent to which this guy is being defensive and doubling down. If he’s unbothered by this feedback, he wouldn’t be responding this way.

Frankly, this guy’s whole online presence strikes me as being very… umm, insecure? I’m not saying the guy bought most of his followers, but he has nearly 500K followers, and gets no comments (or a couple of comments) on much of his content. Makes you wonder, eh?

Also, this dude’s level of gaslighting is next level. In reference to the video, he claims he “actually didn’t record him, I recorded his hands lol, because I know specifically in this airline they make a huge deal about it, so a purposely didn’t record his face, but I figured I’d post it to create so debate and it’s working lol.” Yeah, man, lol.

By the way, if someone wants to tag @daddisnacks in all of this (he’s the ultimate anti-influencer), I think this would be a great opportunity. 😉 “Lol.”

Boy, wouldn’t it be funny if Qatar Airways banned this guy?

Bottom line

An influencer took to social media to complain how Qatar Airways doesn’t cater to influencers enough, and that they should let content creators film employees, without interrupting them. That violates airline rules, but he doesn’t care.

What’s amazing is the extent to which he’s doubling down on his take. In response to critical comments, he says that no one is going to tell him what he can and can’t do.

What do you make of this whole situation?

Not sure he's on the right place to act so, as there are many of them all over the world. I've once saw one get arrested for taking pic's in the security area at BRU. It's just a no go in decent countries.
Don't know today but back in time at arrival in Customs at GRU there were three lines; Nationals, Foreigners and Americans. The Americans needed to be photographed because American Customs did...

The Americans needed to be photographed because American Customs did the same for Brazilians arriving in the US. Seems that the guy lift one of his fingers when they were taking the pic. I know he was jailed for a while and I heared jails in that country are not paradises. Many Americans (along with others of course) think they are above the law. He surely won't go free for this.

Airlines should simply ban him. He'd have nothing to "stream" about and would be forced to get a real job. He can "stream" about his new career as a Walmart associate.

So this guy has half a million followers on insta - but his posts tend to get around 50 likes. Hmmm. Something way off with those sums.

His whole profile screams 'look at me look at me' and obviously no one is judging by the interaction with his posts.

My mum gets more likes on her IG posts of her rose garden and she's got like 130 followers.

Maybe someone should tell him you can buy 'likes' as well as 'followers'. Bless him.

The amount of entitlement is wild! I'm the polar opposite -- I've been in the travel content industry for almost a decade, having written for some top publications, with some articles that rank #1 on Google, and even being on BoardingArea (thanks, Ben!). And when I took a flight the other day, I had to work up the courage just to ask the gate agent if I could pre-board so I could take pictures of...

And when I took a flight the other day, I had to work up the courage just to ask the gate agent if I could pre-board so I could take pictures of the plane for an article I'm writing (I was already in Group 1, but there were only a few rows of business class seats that fill up pretty quickly).

When I asked, I started it with "No worries if not, but I'm a travel writer and I was wondering if it would be okay...." If she said no, it would have been fine. I've never heard of this person before, but he sounds like a narcissist.

So what's the point of this post? To make more publicity for this guy?

I'd love to see this toolbag tray this on Air Koryo.

He's going to be very popular in a Qatari jail while awaiting deportation.

After reading only the heading, I suggest this influcencer a) takes a flight on TAAG Angolan, b) transfers at Cairo airport.

    1. 1990 Guest

I wouldn't recommend that routing, even if I were a Moomin.

  9. Greg Guest

It may be getting under his skin but it is also giving him free publicity. There really is no need for a widely read and well respected blog like yours to be doing that.

  10. dbUMS Guest

Ah yes, because you famously can do whatever you want on an *airplane*. I'm sure this attitude will work out well for him.

He should try doing this on a Chinese or US carrier. He might get to places he had never envisioned to see or spend some time in a nice cozy place with food paid by The Government

Hope the little c**ksucker gets it into his head to go try out his song-and-dance on a KE flight or two and while he's at, screws with the groundcrew and a ROK IO or two.

Love to see the ROKers go all Johnny Somali on his sorry little azz and give him a couple of years picking cabbages. Get him straightened out and flying right.

Qatar should ban this toxic idiot, but they probably won't.

They never pass up a chance to make a buck from some deeply unethical people.

    1. Elau Guest

Qatar has recently banned Josh Cahill, so to say they won't ban this influencer just because they want to make a buck, is most likely not the case. They may ban or they may not. Let's not automatically assume they won't ban. In fact if I had to bet I would say there is a pretty decent chance that they will.

    2. Al Guest

You're a little late on the news, Josh being banned by Qatar was NOT recent and he has been unbanned by Qatar.

As I said yesterday, he follows Trump on Insta. This is all you need to know. His fragility and insecurity in the comments show exactly the type of person he is. Rules don’t apply to him or his ‘beautiful’ wife. Let’s start flooding his comments about the release of the Epstein files. That will shut him up real quick.

    1. 1990 Guest

Yup, this is Trumpian. Worst role-model for the world. The fish rots at the head. 222 until midterms.

    2. Mantis Diamond

Hey retards, 1) this isn't a political story at all..TDS is real, when you see a trump angle in every story, you're probably a brainwashed low IQ psychopath, and 2), the Epstein files were released in full. Keep up. Somehow you weren't hot and bothered when Biden admin didn't release them, wonder why, could it be 99% implicated were Dems? Carry on with your self delusion now.

    3. 1990 Guest

"No politics.. we want the jobs the comet will bring.." (Don't Look Up)

    4. Steve Guest

Back to Biden. Got it. Who else made your life a failure? Drag Queens, Trans, immigrants, POC. The professional victim is strong in you.

    5. Mantis Diamond

Yep, you're a retard. Good luck to you and all your victimhood groups, we just don't give AF anymore.
