Well here’s a sad story. A Las Vegas man committed suicide at an Easter buffet, which he blamed on depression stemming from him being banned from a buffet.
Via The Las Vegas Review-Journal:
The day before he put a gun to his head and killed himself at an M Resort buffet on Easter, a Las Vegas man filled a box with his complaints against the resort and its employees and mailed it to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In his final, angry message to the world, delivered to the newspaper Monday morning, John Noble blamed his suicide on depression that set in after the Henderson resort awarded him free meals at the buffet for life then banned him from the property in 2013 for harassing some of the women working there.
“Today, I end my life due to the M Resort Spa Casino and its employees,” the 53-year-old Noble wrote in one of two suicide notes he included with an obsessively detailed dossier on the people he blamed for destroying his life.
At about 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Noble shot himself in the resort on Las Vegas Boulevard South near St. Rose Parkway. Henderson firefighters were already at the resort’s parking garage extinguishing a burning vehicle police now say belonged to Noble.
Goodness, what a sad story. The worst part is that he apparently shot himself in public in front of many, including children, who were celebrating the holiday. This seems to have been premeditated and a drawn out struggle on his part as well:
Noble’s hand-bound stack of notes and documents stretches on for more than 270 pages and includes a table of contents, photographs and a two-hour DVD of him talking about his troubles.
The second-to-last page, titled “The Curse,” spells out all the harm he wishes on those he believed wronged him.
Included on the list are several women who worked at the buffet and who were showered with gifts and unwanted attention by Noble after he won meals for life there in September 2010.
The man’s stack of papers also details a suicide threat he made on Easter 2013, three weeks after he was kicked out of the resort and about a month after his mother died.
On the plus side, at least he “only” took his own life.
My thoughts are with his family and everyone that witnessed this…
@betterbub this is a a personal blog that is a channel for Travel advice.
I honestly don't understand what this has to do with travel or miles/points. Blogging about someone's tragedy for a few page hits is insulting.
I have to give you props for best headline of the month.
@JRL - pun intended?
Very sad that eating at the buffet was probably his only social interaction.
With querulants, such things can completely absorb all aspects of their life, beyond reason and normal perspective. Clearly the loss of his lifetime buffet privileges was part of the snowballing complaint, but I'd say it was secondary to the allegations of sexual harassment that were the given reasons for revoking his lifetime buffet privileges.

It raises a question as to why casino management continued to allow the individual access to the property (with a firearm no less), after it upheld and took punitive action against the individual for alleged sexual harassment. Clearly he had engaged in long fraught communication with casino management/staff before this tragic outcome, and casino property security and surveillance often exceeds that at banks so it's not like they couldn't enforce an access ban against him from stepping foot onto the property.
Family to sue hotel in 3....2.....1...
I've been to that buffet. It's to die for.

uh... clearly not all there mentally.
@Randy - This is a personal blog... not an advice channel.
Slow day at the office Lucky? How in the heck did that help me get from here to there?
Was the food there really that good that it was worth killing yourself over?
