I flew with Ted’s ex!

As most of you probably know, Ted is slowly dying. United is reconfiguring Ted into a different configuration than the standard A320. They’re adding a couple of extra rows, leaving the closets off the plane, and are making the seats all leather. As of now there’s only one plane that’s reconfigured.

After a delay of nearly two hours last night from San Francisco to Los Angeles, I was thrilled to get aboard and be on the reconfigured plane. There’s not a whole lot I can say, other than NICE. The plane even has that “new car” smell.

The first class seats are virtually identical comfort wise to the old seats, so thumbs up. While I didn’t get to actually sit in the coach seats, they looked comfortable as well. My only complaint is the lack of a small “pouch” in the first class seatbacks like they have on the other planes.

Below are a few pictures (I apologize for the bad quality, as I only had my crappy camera with me and was trying to hurry… oddly enough, other passengers didn’t share my excitement).

It seems like there probably are more than one reconfigured A320's or else I'm super lucky (not to be confused with Super Lucky) b/c I've been on it twice :)

p.s. "Super Lucky" would be Ben in a red cape with a big "S" on his chest

@ andrewwm -- I had no clue! I thought they were starting a bit later in the year, but I think you're right.

@ chitownflyer -- I believe the exit rows are now numbered 11 and 12 like they are on the other mainline 320's, but they looked pretty roomy to me.

Do the exTed A320's still have the two nice and roomy exit rows 10 and 11?

There are actually quite a few of these reconfigured ex-Ted birds (something like 1/4 by now). It's the 757 that has the new Recaro seats in Y that only has one example at the moment.
