Through May 14, 2017, Delta is offering two free premium drinks in their US SkyClubs locations to those with a Delta American Express Card. While SkyClubs always have complimentary house beer, wine, and cocktails, they also have an extensive selection of premium drinks available for purchase.
This perk is valid for all co-branded Delta American Express Cards, including:
To take advantage of this opportunity you need to present an eligible card at the bar, and then you’ll enjoy up to two complimentary premium drinks. The terms suggest that you get up to two drinks per daily visit per card, so if you’re someone who has multiple cards, I suppose you can “invite” the people around you to enjoy premium drinks as well (after all, consuming four, six, or eight drinks before a flight sounds slightly irresponsible). Here are the terms associated with this offer:
Valid only for guests 21 years and older. Good for two beverages per active Delta SkyMiles Credit Card presented to Delta Sky Club per daily visit. Select champagnes and Premium spirits are excluded. A list of included beverages will be provided upon request. Non-transferable and has no cash redemption value. All Delta Sky Club rules and entry fees apply. Offer can be changed or revoked at any time. Valid from May 1–May 14, 2017 at THE BAR at Delta Sky Club. Please drink responsibly.
Delta SkyClub San Francisco Airport
You need to be able to access the SkyClub to begin with in order to take advantage of this promotion, and not all of the above cards get you access. You could use a card like The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express to access a SkyClub (assuming you’re flying Delta the same day), and then get your free premium drinks.
Hopefully some of you can take advantage of this, especially as Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner!
Amex cards are difficult.... a Platinum Delta American Express card does not let you in Delta lounges. A Platinum American Express Card does.
Only on wines normally priced $12 and under, though.
I love to travel but hate to fly. 4 or 6 drinks before a flight gets me ready! I think it more depends on the person and what they can handle. You should be able to easily walk onto the plane, take your seat, and follow crewmember instructions.
4 6 or 8 drinks before a flight slightly irresponsible? I just call that breakfast
As you pointed out, this only helps if you have access to a SkyClub to begin with. If DL really wanted to push their credit cards, they should include a per-use voucher/credit for the SC with their cards. It wouldn't kill them to offer 1-4 same day passes with their cards that could be valid when traveling on a DL ticket only. I know quite a few people who have the DL cards, but no real loyalty to DL when making travel plans. The SC passes could make a difference.
