The Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles program has just revealed the details of an award redemption promotion, which will be launching shortly. This has the potential to be incredibly lucrative, though is also ridiculously restrictive in terms of the travel window.
In this post:
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles award ticket promotion
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles will be running a Valentine’s Day redemption sale, offering a 50% refund on the miles redeemed when you travel as a pair.

As you’d expect, there are some restrictions to be aware of:
- This is valid for bookings made between February 4 and February 16, 2025
- This is valid for travel between February 10 and February 23, 2025
- This applies to promotional economy and business class award tickets (the name of Turkish Airlines’ cheapest award types)
- This is valid for travel on Turkish Airlines globally, whether flying one-way or roundtrip
- The member who issued the award ticket must be one of the two travelers, and both travelers must be on the same reservation
- This isn’t a 50% discount upfront, but rather it’s a 50% refund within 10 days of completing the flight
As you can see, this is a pretty lucrative promotion. It’s not live yet, and the biggest restriction is that there’s only a roughly two-week window where you can travel to take advantage of this.

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles award pricing
Below you can find the Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles award chart, with all pricing being one-way and per segment (unfortunately the program was massively devalued in early 2024).

Pricing isn’t bad if you’re traveling to or from Istanbul, but the issue is that award pricing is additive, which makes the cost of connecting itineraries quite expensive.
But there are good deals to be had with these discounts. For example, a one-way award between Istanbul and North America ordinarily costs 65,000 miles in business class. So if you booked that for two people (paying a total of 130,000 miles), you’d receive a refund of 65,000 miles after the flight. That has the potential to be a great value.
How to earn Turkish Airlines miles
Turkish Airlines partners with two transferable points currencies, giving those with credit cards easy access to these miles:
- You can transfer Citi ThankYou points to Turkish Airlines at a 1:1 ratio, so you can earn Turkish miles with cards like the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card (review)
- You can transfer Capital One miles to Turkish Airlines at a 1:1 ratio, so you can earn Turkish miles with cards like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (review)

Bottom line
Turkish Airlines is offering up to a 50% refund on award tickets, when traveling as a pair. This has the potential to be a great deal, though the catch is the limited travel window, plus the 50% refund being provided after the fact, rather than at the time of booking.
Despite the restrictions, given that this is available throughout the carrier’s network in both cabins, I imagine some people will be able to get value from this.
Do you plan on taking advantage of this Turkish Airlines award sale?
When I try to book 2 award seats with Turkish I'm met with an error saying you can't book for more than one person the first time using their award system. I've galled support with no actual help so far.
What's the procedure people have used outside actually flying solo once first?
Think people are canceling because of their bedbugs problems… so extra seats available!
