World of Hyatt is currently offering three separate double points promotions. One of them, for stays at limited service properties, has just been extended for a couple of months. Let’s take a look at the details of all the offers, and discuss how these are seemingly being offered in lieu of a global promotion.
In this post:
Details of World of Hyatt’s double points promotions
World of Hyatt is currently offering three different sets of double points promotions, which are either brand or region specific.
Before we discuss the exact details, let me remind everyone that World of Hyatt ordinarily offers 5x World of Hyatt points per dollar spent on hotel stays. So with a double points offer, you’d earn an extra 5x points per dollar spent, for a total of 10x points. This doesn’t factor in:
- Elite members receive further bonuses — Discoverists earn an extra 0.5x points per dollar spent, Explorists earn an extra 1.0x points per dollar spent, and Globalists earn an extra 1.5x points per dollar spent
- If you pay for a qualifying stay with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review) you earn an extra 4x points per dollar spent
With that out of the way, let’s discuss the details of the three offers.
Mr & Mrs Smith 2x points offer
It’s currently possible to earn double World of Hyatt points for stays at 100+ Mr & Mrs Smith properties. As a reminder, Hyatt recently acquired luxury travel agency Mr & Mrs Smith, giving World of Hyatt members the opportunities to earn and redeem points for stays at independent properties. As you’d expect, there are some terms to be aware of:
- You must register between October 1 and November 30, 2024, and prior to completion of your first stay
- You must stay between October 1 and December 24, 2024
- You start earning double points with your first stay, and there’s no maximum to how many bonus points you can earn
- You only earn points for Mr & Mrs Smith stays when reserving through World of Hyatt booking channels
- It can take two to three weeks after check-out for bonus points to post to your account
Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific, 2x points offer
It’s currently possible to earn double World of Hyatt points for stays at 325+ participating Hyatt properties in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. This kicks in starting with your second eligible stay. There are some terms to be aware of:
- You must register between September 24 and November 4, 2024, and prior to completion of your first stay
- You must stay between October 7 and December 20, 2024, and you only start earning double points with your second stay and beyond
- Stays at a variety of brands qualify toward this, as long as it’s a participating property
- You can earn up to 20,000 bonus points with this promotion (equivalent to $4,000 in eligible spending)
- It can take two to three weeks after check-out for bonus points to post to your account
Hyatt Place & Hyatt House 2x points offer
It’s currently possible to earn double World of Hyatt points promotion for stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties. There are some terms to be aware of:
- You must register between July 9 and November 15, 2024, and prior to completion of your first stay (so registration is no longer open)
- You must stay between July 9 and December 15, 2024
- This is valid for stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties worldwide
- You can earn up to 25,000 bonus points with this promotion (equivalent to $5,000 in eligible spending)
- It can take two to three weeks after check-out for bonus points to post to your account
Hyatt’s not offering a global promotion
World of Hyatt’s last global promotion ended in late April 2024. Since then, we haven’t seen the program offer a promotion valid at all properties. That’s not totally unusual, since it’s common to see Hyatt skip a global promotion in summer, given the amount of leisure travel demand, and then resume global promotions in the fall.
However, we haven’t seen a global promotion announced for fall either, and it seems pretty clear at this point that Hyatt doesn’t plan on offering one. For what it’s worth, in 2023, Hyatt launched its fall promotion for stays as of October 6, which has now passed.
Admittedly World of Hyatt has never been as strong as Hilton Honors when it comes to points promotions, as the program shines in other ways (late check-out, confirmed perks, a proper breakfast benefit, etc.). However, it seems that Hyatt is increasingly shifting to promotions targeting specific brands or regions.
I imagine this isn’t a coincidence, and perhaps Hyatt has decided that consistently having global promotions doesn’t drive incremental business in the way the company hopes. We might not like that as consumers (I certainly don’t!), but I also don’t have the data that the program executives have, and they’re smart folks.
Bottom line
World of Hyatt is offering three double points promotions, with one specific to Mr & Mrs Smith, one specific to certain Hyatt brands, and another specific to certain geography. The timing of these promotions coincides with when Hyatt usually has its global fall promotion, so it’s pretty clear at this point that we won’t see one of these offers this year.
If you do have any upcoming stays at properties that would be eligible for these offers, be sure to register.
What do you make of Hyatt’s three double points promotions?
From Hyatt prospective it does make sense: US market remains robust and does not need any stimulation while Hyatt footprint elsewhere is small. There is not much differentiation between Hyatt Place/House and other limited service hotels offered by competition. Personally, I have little plans with Hyatt through Dec as I re qualified back in Aug and will slowly get to 70 night by year end.
This post was updated yesterday (10/7), but what changed? I don't see any actual updates.
3 promos and none apply to my travel destinations/plans for the rest of the year. C'mon Hyatt, give us a global promo for the fall/ holiday season
I am just as happy that there isn’t a promotion that enables more people to become Globalist. There is greater risk that the Globalist status is diluted if too many people qualify through promotions. I would rather see award certificates changed to Category 1-5 from 1-4 and the Globalist certificate become 1-8 from 1-7 to reward people who achieve Globalist status with lots of nights/credit card spend.
You have nothing to fear.
As long as the oxymoron Globalist doesn't have footprints globally, not many people beyond bloggers and victims of card pushers would try to qualify.
"You must register between July 9 and November 15, 2024, and prior to completion of your first stay (so registration is no longer open)"
Is incorrect. Registration is still open.
The screenshot of the Place/House promo webpage shows registration is open until November 15th. Is that a typo then, that registration is no longer open?
Are these promotions able to be combined? Staying at a Hyatt place / house in a region where they are already mentioned to be in scope of 2x points?
