Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have just launched their new combined loyalty program, Atmos Rewards. The program has some lucrative co-branded credit cards, and we’ve just seen a new limited time welcome offer rolled out.

In this post, I’d like to take a look at the mid-range personal card, the $95 annual fee Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® Credit Card. Note that this card used to be known as the Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card.

Atmos Ascent Card 80K miles & companion fare bonus

The Atmos Rewards Ascent Card is offering a limited time two-part welcome bonus. After spending $4,000 within the first 120 days, you can earn:

  • 80,000 Atmos Rewards bonus points
  • A $99 companion fare (plus taxes and fees from $23), valid for flights within North American on Alaska and Hawaiian

I value Atmos Rewards points miles at 1.5 cents each, given the great uses of these rewards. That means the 80,000 points are worth $1,200 for me. That doesn’t even account for the value of the Atmos Rewards companion fare.

Note that eligibility for this card is unrelated to whether you have any other Atmos Rewards card, so you’re eligible if you have the business card or more premium card.

Why the Atmos Ascent Card is worth applying for

Beyond the excellent bonus, there are multiple reasons to get the $95 annual fee Atmos Rewards Ascent Card. Among other things, the card offers the following:

  • A companion fare from $122 ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) on your account anniversary every year after spending $6,000 on the card in the prior anniversary year; this is in addition to the companion fare offered as part of the bonus
  • 3x points on eligible Alaska and Hawaiian purchases, 2x points on eligible gas, EV charging station, cable, streaming services and local transit purchases including ride share, and 1x points on all other purchases, all with no foreign transaction fees
  • A 10% rewards bonus on all points earned from purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America account
  • A first checked bag free on Alaska and Hawaiian flights for the card member and up to six companions on the same reservation when paying with the card; this also applies to authorized users (which you can add at no cost), as long as the card is used to pay for the ticket, even when not traveling with the primary card member
  • Preferred boarding on Alaska flights for the card member and up to six companions on the same reservation when paying with the card; this also applies to authorized users (which you can add at no cost), as long as the card is used to pay for the ticket, even when not traveling with the primary card member
  • 20% savings on Alaska and Hawaiian inflight purchases of food, drinks, and Wi-Fi, when paying with your card
  • $100 off an Alaska Lounge+ membership annually when you purchase the membership with your card
  • Spending on the card can count toward elite status, as you earn one status point per $3 spent; in 2025 you’re capped to earning 30,000 status points this way, though starting in 2026, there will be no limit

If you fly Alaska or Hawaiian with any frequency, then having this card should be a no-brainer. The benefits really add up, between the companion fare, the first checked bag free, preferred boarding, savings on inflight purchases, and more.

The companion fare can save you hundreds

Bottom line

The $95 annual fee Atmos Rewards Ascent Card is offering a phenomenal limited time welcome bonus that consists of 80,000 Atmos Rewards points plus a $99 companion fare, upon completing minimum spending. If you’re eligible for the card, I’d consider applying with this offer, as this is a card with a reasonable annual fee that many people don’t have.
