Woohoo... finally retiring the 747 on this route although it was on the 787 for a while. Not sure about Econ on the 773 but C is definitely a plus.

Why such a long time on the ground in TPE? It's hardly a slot constrained airport. Terrible utilisation of a brand new aircraft!

It sounds on the ground because they can't sell a nighttime Asia departure. Same as all the TPAC destinations.

This is nice for upgrades to Asia, but a little surprised it's not on FRA or LHR.

Glad I saw this! I'm booked on TPE-SFO in Oct. Just changed to a bulkhead seat to get maximum space.

Do you think they will add Mumbai (BOM) from Ewr for their new 777-300?

@Ben A good amount of the reason probably comes from maximizing connection 2:25 from SFO allows people from east/mid-west to fly in same day for flight and early morning landing means plenty of connections. Agree though terrible utilization I'm sure it will change when they have 4+ 300ER out of SFO and can interchange them on routes i.e. HKG-SFO then flies SFO-TPE but right now its terrible.

I find it amazing that people with the small picture know so much about aircraft utilization.
