The airline flew from Brussels to Newark and Toronto, and in the other direction flew from there to Delhi and Mumbai. In other words, you could fly them one stop…

SN knew that 9W was going to leave BRU already since begin November.

The employees of 9W were at that moment informed about the plans of the airline, and that news has been leaked to various newspapers in Belgium.
They also knew that 9W requested slots at AMS.

Jet airways is not totally abandoning there North American routes, they are simply cancelling their Newark route and moving their Toronto route to Amsterdam. So essentially they will be maintaining their Canadian operations, just from a different connecting airport.

Awesome to have another *A airline out of YYZ, and one with low fuel surcharges. How are they about releasing award space? Haven't seen much out of EWR.

I actually used to work Jet Airways flights at YYZ a few years ago. That flight had a LOT of onward connections on SN, mainly to sub-Saharan Africa and smaller European cities. Therefore, there has been some degree of cooperation between 9W and SN.

Furthermore Jet Airways cooperated with Thalys for codesharing on their high speed train from Brussels Airport to Paris city (Paris Nord station). Maybe Thalys will also discontinue their sole daily train on this route...

More then a year ago, Jet Airways had already announced it as muling over moving its hub to Amsterdam. This move has been anticipated for quite some time. Too bad AA didn't move quick enough to reinstate their BRU-JFK route they discontinued about 4 yrs ago, when Brussels Airlines started its JFK service.
