Buying miles & points strategically can represent a great value, especially for luxury travel. The Qatar Airways Privilege Club program has launched its latest promotion on purchased Avios, and it has the potential to be a good deal, even if you’re looking to acquire another ”flavor” of Avios. Ya know. Not that it only happens here or anything like that but I dislike when people talk about some of the award prices like " You can expect to pay....A one-way US to Doha award costs 35,000 Avios in economy or 70,000 Avios in business class". Maybe at one time that was true but definitely not today. SAVER goes for that, but you gotta HOPE for that. Most times, IF there's award availability at all, you'll be seeing that flex fare starting at 140k (Or that weird 94.5k. Unsure the source of that pricing). That's the standard. Just annoying to see the expectation not align with reality. I yield the rest of my time.

Saver awards do go fast, and appear to be seasonal, at least between the US East Coast and SE Asia. But they do exist - I have booked two of them. As a special feature, hopefully for a limited time only, window seat passengers may be treated to a close-up view of a ballistic missile in flight. Fortunately, cancellation fees are reasonable.

Since Qatar's hub is in, well, Qatar, in the midst of Trump'a Big War, enthusiasm for transiting Doha has slumped, not to mention Doha as a destination.
Expect to see great award availability along the lines of Emirates and Etihad who are really suffering.
Book if you must, but have a 'Plan B' booked as well!

You might want to mention that one can only redeem Qatar Avios for a flight for yourself, not for others. Not even for a spouse, child or family members.
