Review: Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth (Expansive, Serene Resort)

HUGE thank you for including the kids club info - both hours and ages! Those can differ widely across resorts even in the same region/location.

Again you do not get nickeled and dimed but totally ripped off instead. A pizza for 40 € looking like this? No starter below 20€?

There are expensive hotels that deliver and then there are total rip offs.

20 for a hegroni? There is a bar in Wolfsburg which has over 1000 varieties for 12 €

And while the beach looks much better it is packed. Not worth 400. €/night

I dont know why you can't just stay at a normal hotel in a normal room and review it. You review these resorts that no doubt the average person can't afford to stay at, and why do you need a suite. I am sure you only stay at these places because it's a tax write off for a business. Just once stay at a motel6 or a park bench inn

Excellent review (and nice comparison along side your recent Eden Rock stay). Personally, for St. Barths, I still think Fouquet’s Saint Barth (Le Carl Gustav) is ideal for a couples’ first-time visit, if you want to actually see the main town (Gustavia), go to shops, restaurants, nearby beaches, explore, etc. This Rosewood seems ideal for families, and those who want to merely go to one place and stick around. Between this and Rosewood at BVI, which would you prefer, Ben?

Yeah if I was going to St Barths and spending 1500E a night I would definitely choose this one over the Oetker.

@Todd - his husband is a (high-end) Travel Agent and they get the (upgraded) room as a bung for doing reviews afterwards.

Still...it would be nice to see the reception staff faces when Lucky says: "No suite for me thanks, can I be downgraded to a standard room overlooking the car-park?" 🙂

In St. Bart's, I still prefer a villa with my own pool to staying in a hotel, but the Rosewood is relaxed and has a set up that gets your closer to that experience. Hands down, I would prefer the chill vibe of the Rosewood, Cheval Blanc or Le Toiny to the choatic scene at Eden Roc.

Besides the fact it's a luxury destination and there is demand, you can't compare costs in a small French oversea territory as to a random German city, salaries are +40% more than in mainland and everything has to be flown from France...

Genuine, good-faith question. Do you think getting a discounted rate ever subconsciously impacts your reviews? I trust in your objectivity, but I feel like if you're paying the full-rate you have a better sense of whether something is really worth the "value" whereas if you pay less, you're less likely to feel discomfort at other things that are overpriced/bad experiences.

Looks like a lot of seaweed on the beach sand from your photos.
Is it the time of year or is this beach prone to seaweed trash on the beach?
Paying top dollar and only enjoying a pool rather than the beach would be a hard no for me.

for a beach resort this hotel is a shame since the actual beach is awful compared to other better and stunning beaches on the island. I wouldn't pay to stay there.
