Great review. The hotel itself is solid, but what separates Eden Rock is their villa product. They're second to none and the villa team is superb. They also price accordingly... You noted this with Villa Rockstar - check out their festive pricing if you really want some sticker shock!
Nice duck. Decent review. I preferred the views from Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf. It's more in-the-town, and they do have a 'beach' sorta, too. It's actually 'fun' to hotel-hop, like, even just for meals, have a dinner at Cheval Blanc, a lunch at the Rosewood, etc. If you coordinate well, can be fun.
I could never understand why NYC crowds go somewhere like this in spring/summer and pay those rates when you can get to the Mediterranean on a direct flight with a pretty similar net travel time.
Finally, another review! Ben, reviews and some points knowledge are why I check this site a couple times per day; not to read about oogie things idiots do on a plane, but for the reviews. Maybe it's a flight or hotel I may consider. Maybe it's to read about a place I would never spend the money to stay at like Eden Roc. (To the snarky folk, I don't need to cut Starbuck's to afford to stay there. I just don't see the value.) I know you love your children, but it seems like you have cut down on your business travel a bit too much. Time to hit the skies!
Very nice review. We are in St Barth 1-2x every year and have seen the evolution over the last 15 years. We always stay at a villa, but frequent Eden Rock's Remy bar for drinks. From my perspective, Eden Rock has good F&B, but it is really for the scene and people watching. The main down side is that it can get pretty crowded with people like me coming for a drink or lunch or just walking the beach. Eden Rock also does villa rentals and those people can also access some of its facilities. It's a beautiful property, has a great location and is in the thick of the St. Barth scene, but if you want privacy or to just chill, Eden Rock would not be my choice.

And then no pool, noise from the clubs loungers stuck together like in Cannes, and a lot of ships in the water on the beach?
This is in rooms, service, location and prices seriously worse than literally hundreds of hotel in Egypt, Turkey, Thailand… By comparison to those not even worth 400€/night
Again, the USA has no money for the WHO or a proper health insurance for everybody but it has enough money to cut down taxes for millionaires and billionaires so they can afford such hotels.

Wow. No pool. Poor turndown service. Poor housekeeping. No bedside charging. Airplanes overhead.
Pure luxury at $1,600/night.
That assessment is difficult to accept. Transatlantic business class is currently running £3,000–£4,000, and it is nearly impossible to find a high-caliber hotel in Italy or France for under £1,000 per night. Spain is rapidly closing that price gap as well.
It is difficult to see how the "Mediterranean" remains a budget-friendly alternative. Even when considering historically lower-cost destinations like Turkey or Greece, premium hubs like Bodrum and Mykonos have surged in price to match or exceed Western European levels.
Having grown up in Europe, I find the Caribbean to be a superior option for climate and water clarity. While Europe undeniably offers a more diverse range of activities and a more refined culinary scene, that shouldn't diminish the unique appeal of the Caribbean.
Those cheap looking tile floors in the room make it look like an Airbnb in a 1980s condo complex. And no €1600 a night luxury hotel should have towels with the hotel's name emblazoned on them so enormously like it's a Marriott timeshare. Pass.
Great review of the Eden Rock. Went to St Barth's for the first time a couple of years ago and had wonderful service at the Rosewood le Guanahani - a more orthodox luxury resort with pool, beach and amenities.
Krug is standard in my experience, not just a mother's day thing.
The food is exceptional and many healthy options as well.
Anyone complaining about a lack of pool has never been to this beach - having been to nearly every beach you can imagine, this is still probably top 2 or 3 (clear water, perfect temps, perfect sand, great service). Amanpulo's beaches might edge it out slightly (with worse food/service though). And you can certainly have a pool if you want it; just rent a room or suite that has one. Choosing a worse hotel on the island (and yes, they're all worse than ER :)) just because it has a pool is insanity when you have this beach.
We have stayed on the same side, right by the mentioned clubs (Nikki Beach is more or less the closest, which has a very tasty lunch) the music didn't bother us at all on the weekend; we were there a full week.
The price is the price; some can pay it and some can't. If you can pay it, it's one of the best places in the world.
Please stop with your nonsense. You realize this is a French island frequented by world elites like the Loreal family and Hollywood A-listers, none of whom are aligned with the current US power structure.
Stayed there for my honeymoon 25 years ago. It was posh then but not insanely expensive like now. Also seems much more gaudy now than it did back then. Glad I got to experience the more authentic version of itself.
