I just spent a night at the 38-room Nimb Hotel Copenhagen, which belongs to Small Luxury of the World (SLH). This is even part of SLH’s Hilton Honors collaboration, so I actually booked this stay with a Hilton Honors free night award, when the cash rate would’ve been around $1,000.

We were there in October and the park opened after our first night with the Halloween theme. The cinnamon pastries at breakfast were off the charts. Loved all the nibbles that were left and open minibar. Wished we still had some of their great snacks. Staff were always helpful and remembered your favorites and names. The location is great and Copenhagen was filled with great museums and incredible restaurants. We want to go back soon.
Great use of FNC. The addition of the SLH properties and the ability to use those certificates for standard awards there is a major enhancement of the Hilton program. Copenhagen is a lovely city. Glad you had a nice visit!
if you want to step out of big chains, another great hotel right next to Nimb is Villa Copenhagen. It's in an old refurbished post office (or something like that).
@Ben: "I can’t say how excited I was when I saw toiletries from Oman-based Amouage, which has my favorite cologne in the world." So which one is your favorite cologne from Amouage?
I think the best two are Nimb and d'Angleterre. What is nice is how different they are, so there's "something for everyone." The former is quirky, fun, and the suites are fantastic. The latter is a bit stuffy but is historically the best in the city, and I think has the best location. I know you were at Nimb in the dead of winter, but something to note is that it can be really noisy in summer since they do so many events/concerts/fireworks etc. right there.
FYI there are quite a few bars in Europe called the "American Bar". It's because the whole idea of a cocktail was popularized by Americans during Prohibition (to water down the bootleg liquor) and when this was brought to Europe the description came with it.

IndiGo’s A321XLRs are quirky. Safety rules across non-US airlines are quirky. The Ritz-Carlton Singapore is quirky, as it doesn’t belong to Bonvoy. Lufthansa’s rubber ducks are quirky. And so on…
Not to rag on your usage of this word — in fact I do appreciate it — but I do think quirky is the new gorgeous at OMAAT!
Tivoli Gardens was Walt Disney's inspiration for Disneyland. He loved the well manicured landscape and sketched out pages of ideas of nicely dressed folks enjoying the park!
As much as I cherish my bottles of Interlude and Interlude 53, Amouage fragrances are very strong and very polarising. Personally I'd like luxury hotels to start using premium-quality amenities that are fragrance free.
My wife and I stayed at Nimb in July and were so happy with the experience. We'd open our window in the late afternoon and listen to the sounds from the amusement park. The rooftop pool - with its own bar - was also amazing. But key is the hotel's private entrance (and free wristbands for the rides) at Tivoli. We could pop in for a quick stroll or jump on a ride or two, if we felt like it. The classic wooden coaster was also a treat; the Rutschebanen is the world's 3rd oldest roller coaster and the oldest coaster in Europe!
We stayed there last April and had a totally delightful experience. Tivoli Gardens was open so we took long walks there after dinner and enjoyed the beautiful gardens. Also watched a ballet in Tivoli Gardens from our balcony! The staff were amazing!
so except the privileged yankees with Hilton free night award to spend… would you pay 1000 usd per night from your own pocket, Ben?

As a Dane I can vouch for that being true quality. Real “over the top” luxury doesn’t really exist in Denmark, glad you enjoyed it.
Side note: Hope you tried the Mikkeller non-alcoholic beer (yellow can in the picture), the same is served on SAS!
Check out Hotel Sanders. Not a points hotel but a great little boutique hotel with a really fun little bar. Loved our room there also.
I know this blog isn't anymore about points hotels nor design and architecture, but the Radisson Collection Royal hotel is just across with better value for money, and a piece of history as this is a marker of Arne Jacobsen's work from the 60s and the world first design hotel.
We stayed at the Radisson a bunch of years ago. It was very cheap, compared to others in the area, and was very convenient to walk to an early morning train. We were there in October and got to play around in Tivoli, so so much fun. Having read this hotel review I would definitely stay there when Tivoli is open!
Hyatt used to have this property till Hilton snagged it away

I’m not a Radisson guy especially with the new owners but I would return to the Radisson Royal
It’s an iconic property and has a solid 3rd party gym and architecture that continues to inspire since it was built and opened in 1960
It sucks it isn’t affiliated with a good program
If I do a chain hotel I’ll do a renovated room at the Marriott

Thank you for this review! We have five nights booked on points at Nimb in August. I figure it will allow us to do some sight seeing in Copenhagen and also relax in the spa/pool facilities. I’m looking forward to watching the fireworks display from the hotel, and hopeful some enticing evening entertainment is added to the summer Tivoli schedule.
