The brand new Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is located approximately forty minutes from the historic village of Nizwa. The long drive up the mountains requires a 4x4 vehicle, and is incredibly scenic. All guests receive a special welcome ceremony on arrival with an Omani musician, hot towels, and an escort to the lobby.…

If you title your video "$350 OMANI RESORT ROOM VS. $5200 ROOM" you'll probably get more views

or simply just "$5200 ROOM AT OMANI RESORT!!!!!!"

add the small details later

Crazy, so much unemployment in Oman and you are led to your room by someone from the Maldives :p

Well, you kind of were "paid" with 2 free nights...

Paid "reviews " are worthless. We can see those same pics and real reviews on Trip Advisor by people who spent their hard-earned money.

Was the resort empty when you visited? Seems like no one in any of the photos.

If this is not a "review", but rather a description with "opinions", you probably should change the address of this post, which is "anantara-al-jabal-al-akhdar-resort-oman-review"

@Jim it was about half full during my first day there when I took the photos, though I purposely tried to avoid people in the pictures 🙂

I've been really critical of Daniel in the past, but I think people are laying into him a bit much here. The URL says "review", but the title clearly says that this is a tour, not a full revew, and he has a disclosure that the rooms were comped right at the top.

Daniel, it would be better in your disclosure if you don't say you weren't "paid" when you were comped the rooms, just disclose the comp and move on. Other than that I thought your disclosure was fine. The "Bottom Line" does read like an advert, though.

That said, the place looks phenomenal!

Yeah, folks are so critical of the nonsense "not a review so it doesn't need to be properly disclosed." It's not like the FTC doesn't have specific guidance on what bloggers should do under these circumstances. Oh wait, it does.

@ Daniel:

The Anantara brand is some type of timeshare with some type of marketing affiliation with Hiktin Grand Vacations Club (HGVC)

I remember visiting the Marriott Vacation Club in Phuket in 2015 and very nearby was a new Anantara resort. When we would go into the little community restaurant and shopping plaza we were repeatedly approached to do a tour of Anantara (we didn't)....they never mentioned Hilton, though. A few months later in Las Vegas we spoke with HGVC and they showed us that they had the Anantara brand available for timeshare exchanges.

Did you observe any connection during your visit or see timeshare promotions beibg offered to guests?

This place looks phenomenon! In general, the overall service in ME and Asia Hotels/Resorts are so much better than in Western countries that you feel like Royalty and would like to go back again! Thanks for sharing!

Looks wonderful.
How far is this place from Muscat and how long did it take to get there?
That's a huge food spread for a half empty resort.

Just a stunning experience. The canyon is a unique geologic destination and the room is beautifully designed to capture the experience. Looking forward to the time and cash to check it out!

We stayed here last month with out two teenagers. It's an amazing resort and we'll built to fit into the surroundings. The Friday brunch was incredible.

While the resort and the room look very nice, who the heck would want to spend their holiday in the middle of some rocky desert?
