The owner of Amanyara Turks & Caicos, one of the Caribbeans most luxurious resorts, is currently in a major dispute with the owner of luxury hotel group Aman. The situation is getting so bad that a lawsuit has been filed, and the owner is threatening to cut ties with Aman. Let me explain whats going on
I'm sure some of you will be asking: "Can they both lose?"
Thank you, Ben, for pointing out that the proper 'owner' here is the Sackler family ($35 billion in revenue, driven by their aggressive and deceptive marketing of the opioid OxyContin, linked to more than 450,000 overdose deaths in the last two decades.)
And now... for a member of the Sackler family's PR team to attempt to insert plausible deniability, discredit me/Ben, and ignore reality... *waiting patiently*
The current property rebranding would actually be a best case scenario for Aman. As you rightly say the target audience is very similar. So if they rebrand the existing property, they can rebrand the new one from Janu to Aman, which still has the much more powerful brand.
An oligarch known as "the Russian James Bond" playing dirty? You don't say!

Couldn't have happened to nicer people; the Sackler family that helped spark the opioid crisis (and made a fortune off of it) versus the Russia oligarch owner laundering criminal proceeds (and likely sponsoring Putin's war).
Until this is settled, Mortimer Sackler should stay away from windows in high rise buildings... Also, Mortimer??? Was he born in 1870s?
The worst people in the world, who build resorts for the worst people in the world, are being awful to each other.
Sounds like a signal to me. You'll find me literally anywhere else.
Amanyara is by far the worst Aman that I have stayed at. Truly terrible service and a design that obscures ocean views from a good share of the villas. Such a contrast with a place like Amanzoe, Amankila, or Amanwella. Perhaps Janu will be better. The Sacklers can burn in hell.
The harbinger of this was Aman advertising on socials. Now it continues to circle the drain, inviting the lowest common denominator wealthy (and those who pretend to be) at properties where hyper-exclusivity has resulted in the guests being made to feel as though they're lucky to even be there. Throwing in the towel, other than a couple Amans with old school staff, I'm done.
It all started because he went to the employee entrance so Aman called the cops.
Of course , no one builds a resort in Turkey .
Aman is is the toilet.
Super bad new management and Owners.
NYC is the best example.
And what happened to that fiasco in Cabo MX? Weak at best management.
Rich boys fighting over more money. I bleed for them.
Look. This revamped company which is a slim version of how it started many years ago with previous visionaries. ...it is a new Russian owner now and not before. It's a mess.
If you are this wealthy? You fly private (NOT JSX which is so pedestrian now with complainers ). You have "people" who rent you a stay with your large group to relax away from other people.
AMAN is now like luxe Omaha NE. Get with it. Boring place to stay.
