Not mentioned anywhere in the local media is whether the delayed flights will be subject to the 11pm curfew (for departures) or if exemptions will be granted. I believe arrivals are normally scheduled until 1am so there should be less of an impact to those flights.

All right Lucky, I'm politically neutral but you clearly chose a title to stir the political pot. It gives appearance the Army is putting on a parade for Trumps birthday. While I read the article and I knew beforehand from other media reports, the parade is simply taking place on Trump's birthday.
@ Mitch -- I don't know how you're coming to that conclusion? Trump is the person who is behind the festivities, and it's for the Army's birthday. I didn't say the airport is closing for "Trump's Birthday Army Parade," I said it's closing for "Trump's Army Birthday Parade."

What the big deal? Why not just have 50 Army helos overflying DCA while it’s in operation?
There's no recollection of a parade on the Army's 200th birthday when Ford (not Ben's husband) was president in 1975. Coincidentally, the notable parade that year was the 1975 October Revolution Parade in the Soviet Union.
Anyway, once again, Trump cares about image, how people look at him. Apparently to him, these parades make him look tough.
And he wants to lecture people on cutting government waste?!
There are other ways to honor the Army along with the other branches without the pomp and circumstance. But look at the messages he spouts on Memorial and Veterans Day, the speech he made at West Point.

Think this way, would the Army get a parade if it's birthday DIDN'T coincide with Trump's? Where's the Navy, Marines, Air Force, or Coast Guard parades if that's the case?
If the Republican Party is dead, how are they in control of the White House, Senate and House? (And Supreme Court) The Democrat party is the dead one. You have no leaders.

Enough of the political hysteria, it's embarrassing. The parade is to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Armed Forces. In 1775, the United States Army was established by Congress.
They're presenting an American flag to him? And the ceremony is culminating not at the Pentagon, or at Arlington National Cemetery, or at the site of a landmark battle of our armed forces...but on his temporary front lawn? And for this, thousands of people have to be materially inconvenienced?
This parade will be as much about America's armed forces as the movie "Reservoir Dogs" was about canines.
What's embarassing is that people like you don't realize that the Cheetoh will make it ALL about him. He always does. He could care less about the Armed Forces. He's a draft dodger, remember???

First world countries don't have military parades for their dictators...
If the airlines had guts/common sense, they would cancel/reschedule all the flights in that window now.
One more inconvenience for our city. Given how many people reportedly attended the parade, it would appear more travelers were inconvenienced than people attending the parade. Of course nearly everyone who lives there who could leave went out of town and the reality is that if you're going to have a big, successful event in DC, it requires lots of local attendees too.
