The vet is the huge thing here. It's one thing for a carrier to say they'll "be careful" when they move your pet around on conveyors, and then another thing altogether to check vitals, food, water. The Japanese are good on vet care for connecting animals. My friend, travelling on Thai/Air Canada BKK-NRT-YYZ was greeted at the jetbridge by the vet, requesting his signature to permit her care for his cargo-carried large dog. She explained that her process included exam, walkies, cage cleaning, food/water supply for the longhaul flight, coordination with carrier etc. My friend was impressed. TK's "lounge" is a cute way of getting our attention but it's the vet care that got mine.
Better not let Matthew from Live and Let's Fly see this. This is basically his worst nightmare come true.
Turkish: we treat cats and dogs well, but we don't like to deal with humans. Don't call us, don't write us, if you want our attention pee on our leg.

There are a few ‘old dogs’ who post herein, so, now they will be able to enjoy their very own lounge in Istanbul.
Lufthansa has long had a state of the art multi-million dollar live animal care facility at Frankfurt. They and KLM are known for being the preferred airlines for transporting pets long-haul.
You don't know him well. What he hates (as do I and most other reasonable people) is people masquerading their pets as "service dogs" when, in fact, they are not and people are simply abusing airline policies to save money. I'm sure he won't have a problem with a pet lounge in Istanbul.
