A woman has been arrested in Indonesia for impersonating a flight attendant, as reported by AsiaOne. The catch is that she actually purchased a ticket, and was just traveling as a passenger.

Tbf to her. in Asia, living up to the expectation of parents is very much ingrained in much of the society and in many parts, disappointing them paramount to pretty much shaming your family and this could result in situations that you will never find in west, including disowning and even severe punishments that could even include dead. As much as how ridiculous and idiotic this is, I can in some aspect sympathize with her fear to come out

Oh, it happens plenty in the West, too, just that 'disowning' is 'blocking them' or 'going no-contact' and 'not-so-silently disinheriting,' because money is our drug here (but isn't it everywhere?)

I was happy to learn the criminal charges were dropped. Although making social media posts about " the job" might not have been the smarter move. Who spends money on a fake job? Influencers I guess?

I don't see any source saying she used the fake ID to misrepresent anywhere.
There was no intent to defraud, maybe except her parents.
As far as I see, they could have asked her to remove or change some clothing as with how they deal with offensive or inappropriate dress codes.
I dress up as Spiderman does that mean I have great powers and great responsibilities? Or people expect me to swing around to save the neighborhood?
Especially if I wear a Perter Parker ID?
What about politicians impersonating a truthful good person?
Perhaps, it's the over-bearing parents to blame: “Why are not you like Johnny Kim?? He’s a doctor, astronaut, and Navy Seal by age 40! Where are my ten grandchildren? Why don’t you own a home yet? You’re supposed to take care of me when I’m old! You must not love me!”

Batik Air missed a trick here. Had the airline promised to review her application after this incident with a view to hiring this potentially super-loyal employee, the world would have applauded.
