In American banks VP is roughly equivalent to Sergeant in the army (Analyst is Private, sorry Specialist; Associate is Lance Corporal; Assistant VP is Corporal).
In American non-Banks, VP (and Senior VP and Executive VP) are much higher up the hierarchy.

I think the real story here is the conduct of Air India and the fact they didn't notice this guy was drunk. I wonder if they served him alcohol. Then to try to hush it up and not report the incident like they are supposed to do.
I feel this is the real story and the fact the Air India suspended him from flying for only 30 days instead of the maximum allowed.
What if this was a minister? I doubt he would have resigned and it would have been hushed up.

In the larger context in the country, it just seems to be getting worse for women with violence and brutality against women on the rise. If the airline did not take the passenger seriously that only shows the increasing insensitivity.

The problem with North Indian executives is that they have a superiority complex. They think they can get away with money, influence and position. Exhibition of arrogance is very explicit as they think they are the only smart ones in the world that exist. Glad to see see they fired him. All big corporations should take a good look at the behavior of these executives and all managers. I usually tell my co-workers and family members that not to work under Indians and Pakistanis. If any one work for them to keep a paper trail of whatever is said or done and all communications. They are outright rogues in suit.
Hard to visualize, maybe this airline needs to look at their rules in serving alcohol on their planes! It’s happened 2 times now, both with intoxicated passengers !

The age of corporations only responding to incidents when they get bad press must end. Crippling fines and/or shutdowns must be levied against such entities for them to begin to take these sorts of things seriously

My dad once had a drunk passenger pass out on his shoulder and drool on him. During the flight, my entire family got bumped to first class. I'll never forget the service, it was so amazing. My sister and I forever referred to it as "the food airplane". Come to find out, the drunk guy was the pilot's son.
Tata can only revamp and make the planes comfortable, well-equipped and better. Maybe even better in flight services and crew but we all know that unfortunately issues like a minister doing this and the airlines hushing it is just something that can't change in india regardless of the airlines. Same with the indigo situation where tejasvi surya opened the emergency door. Incredible india! Only for the rich and powerful
Air India could have easily avoided this by cutting off his drink supply. Well, prime example that education and designation don't always go hand in hand with basic manners and courtesy.
I’d also like to know how much drinking or drugs or both were taken before flight. As high altitude less 02 can really throw you over the drunk ledge
