The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse London Heathrow (LHR) is excellent, and I rank it as one of the best business class lounges in the world. However, the lounge definitely wasn’t feeling cutting edge anymore as of late, so there’s some positive news.

The article seems like it just reformats a VS press release. What would be actually interesting is to figure out how one gets invited to the invitation only space.
What do you expect? Ben to actually review what he’s talking about first-hand. What a concept that’d be!
David - I think it’s fine for Ben to share what Virgin have announced so long as it’s clear it’s them, not him, extolling its virtues. He isn’t saying this is his review of the place, for instance, just this is how Virgin describes it. Do you suggest he not mention it until he reviews it?
The area behind the bar has been completed, the pods and VIP area is also completed, not sure about the cinema area as that was blocked off when I was last there.

Oh hi, James. Interesting take. No, that's not what I said. What I would love is more incisive analysis. OK so there's an "invitation only" space. Who gets in? What does it offer? These are appropriate questions for Lucky to ask VS.
@ david -- It's a totally fair point, and for what it's worth, I do often reach out to contacts to try to get more information. The reality is that all too often, it takes them many days to get an answer, if they can get one at all (often they're just not willing to share more than what's in the press release -- that's not specific to Virgin Atlantic, but in general).
So as I view it, here I'm covering the actual news that has been reported (you're right, I'm reporting what's in a press release), but if I can get more insights, it's a great topic for a follow-up story. But I don't view the two as being mutually exclusive. Because if I only wrote about this when I got the answer to some of those questions, people would accuse me of reporting old news.

It’s a beautiful lounge, just miss the heyday of amenities. I used to have long connections in LHR. I would go through international transit off an early AM arrival, check into the lounge, drop off my bag, have a coffee and breakfast, put my name on the list for a hair cut or massage for later that day closer to my evening departure. Then I’d go backwards thru transit and thru proper immigration. Out to the arrivals lounge, have another coffee, a facial, and hop onto the tube and head into London for the day to see friends, but without having to lug my carryon. Then would head back to the clubhouse for dinner and whatever I had booked, have a shower and hop on my second flight. Those were the days! Maybe they’ll be coming back it sounds!
@Ben, please do update if you get any more insight to what’s on the horizon.
To be fair, typically airlines don't say who gets access to their invitation only spaces so I doubt VS will be sharing that publicly unless it becomes less of an invitation situation and more of a published perk in future.
