Trump "Decertifies" Planes Produced In Canada: This Makes Zero Sense

POTUS cannot decertify aircraft by social media post. That's not how laws work.

Aircraft certification is controlled by the FAA under federal statute. It requires formal rulemaking, technical standards, safety justification, and compliance with bilateral aviation agreements. You can't revoke certifications because you're cross with Canada about Gulfstreams.

This is either an empty threat (TACO!) or constitutional illiteracy dressed up as dealmaking. The FAA hasn't grounded these planes. Airlines are still flying them. Nothing has changed except the number of unserious proclamations cluttering Lie Social.

Canada has NOT certified the newer G600, G700, or G800. While inefficient compared to the US and Europe, this is not illegal. Also, G700 only recently received FAA certification (it was delayed repeatedly from an original 2022 target), and the G800 received U.S. certification in May 2025. Countries often certify aircraft on different timelines.

Another day, another moment of POTUS pretend governing by temper tantrum, packaged as strength for people who mistake noise for action.
