Admittedly I’m strange, but I find this to be one of the coolest new aircraft orders that we’ve seen in a long time, and I can’t wait to fly with Somon Air again!!

In addition, Air Astana announed fifteen 787-9s (five firm aircraft, five options, and five purchase rights) and Uzbekistan Airways firmed five options.
We'll see if they sign, or they were just statements to appease the Dear Leader.
I guess some of the 737MAX are to replace the current 737NG fleet, with a moderate fleet expansion. So no surprise about that.
The real surprise are the 787, which are requiring a major change in their business model. However, I always wondered why none of the Central Asian countries could actually take advantage of their geographical location. Even Air Astana and Uzbekistan Airways never got there. Ten or fifteen years ago, airport infrastructure was an issue, but the current facilities are nothing to complain about.
Lucky loves nothing more than a repressive authoritarian country with a "fancy" business class cabin.
